Byron D. Brooks of Detroit, Michigan, exemplifies personal triumph over adverse circumstances. Byron, who was born during his mother\u2019s incarceration and experienced a period of homelessness, is the first in his immediate family to earn not only a college degree but also an advanced degree \u2013 a master of arts from the School of Education in Diversity and Social Justice in Higher Education. He earned several associate’s degrees from Henry Ford College and a Justice Law certificate from Harvard (2020) and a B.S. degree from Ferris State University (2021).<\/p>\n
As a U-M graduate student, he served as an instructor, anti-racist programming facilitator, member of HEADS, BSU, and interned as a civic and community engagement coordinator at the Ginsberg Center. Byron, who also goes by \u201cMoSoul\u201d is a Poet, Sigma, Agent of Change, and an Anti-Racist Practitioner within Higher Ed.
